SDADJA April Meeting

This is a event

April ADJA Meeting

Riverwalk Country Club (in Fashion Valley)
1150 Fashion Valley Road
San Diego, CA 92110

6:30 – 8:30 p.m.

When it comes to mixing, most DJs know that there are general rules to follow, and that following these rules will result in a good mix. Rules like phrasing, key matching, and beat matching have become things to use as a ‘checklist’ when mixing live. (If you are looking for training with these rules, we’ll be doing that in another upcoming meeting)

Would it surprise you to learn that there are similar rules to follow when emceeing on the mic? Many DJs have never had training to learn to emcee in a fashion that makes them comfortable and delivers that professional quality to impress the guests. Most just ‘wing it’ and hope for the best. That’s because most do not know any criteria to refer to when speaking.

There is criteria to use as a checklist that will not only help you to emcee your events more eloquently, but also to know whether or not you are succeeding in your emcee goals! Imagine not only being able to emcee better, but also knowing that you did it well, since all the new ‘rules’ that you learned were followed.

The San Diego American Disc Jockey Association along with Toastmasters will present a hands-on seminar that will teach you to:

1. Eliminate your ‘uhhh’s, ‘ummm’s, ‘at this time’s, ‘alright’s, and even your ‘ladies and gentleman’s.
2. Learn how to command presence and get people to pay attention when you speak.
3. Learn how to identify your ‘crutch phrases’ and then avoid using them.
4. Mingle with some well-established DJs and learn the techniques that got them to where they are today

This is a topic not to miss!

There will also be a raffle for a pair of American Audio Headphones!
